Paper wrapping is a technique where paper is wrapped around a pallet or product. This can be done semi automatically or fully automatically by using a PaperWrap machine. Various terms are used, such as paper wrapping, stretch paper wrapping and pallet paper wrapping, but they all mean the same thing. Wrapping allows products to be bundled, secured and/or protected against, for example, falling over, damage and dirt during transport and storage. The ultimate goal of pallet wrappers is to wrap products well, undamaged and at the lowest (total) cost in order to send them from A to B.

PaperWrap and Mondi have joined forces to develop a paper stretch wrapping solution and help phase out unnecessary plastics in pallet wrapping applications – claiming to wrap up to 750 pallets with one reel of kraft paper.
Bringing together PaperWrap’s innovative wrapping machinery and Mondi’s knowledge of packaging and paper, the solution enables customers to phase unnecessary plastic out of their pallet wrapping operations.
PaperWrap’s new paper wrapping machine is compatible with Mondi’s Advantage StretchWrap, which is made entirely from kraft paper and offers high strength, puncture resistance, and tension absorption in pallet wrapping applications. Mondi uses responsibly sourced, renewable materials to create this paper, which does not feature plastic or coating and is thus thought to be fully recyclable in existing waste streams.
According to an independent life cycle assessment, the material lowers greenhouse gas emissions up to 62% when compared with virgin plastic stretch film and 49% in comparison to plastic stretch film made with 50% recycled content.

The larger dimensions of the Mondi Advantage StretchWrap reel mean that a new reel is only needed every 400-600 pallets compared to every 40-60 pallets for plastic wrapping. The paper solution can be used to wrap different shapes and sizes of pallets and cover the gap between the pallet and the product, providing good stability and safety during transportation.
